VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
At this time the library does not have any volunteer opportunities. Please continue to check back for future opportunities.
About volunteering at Northland:
- Help out in the Learning Garden
- Share your skills or learn something new
- Choose solitude in the bookshelves
- Help kids during programs
Or you can become a Book Nook associate or a team member of the semi-annual book sales.
New opportunities arise as new programs/events evolve. Ongoing opportunities offer flexibility and others require a firm commitment on an ongoing basis. We welcome your application as we offer variety, new friendships, and personal satisfaction while enriching Northland’s reputation as a community treasure.
At certain times of the year, Northland can entertain requests from students who need to perform a specific number of volunteer hours within a certain timeframe. We need two weeks’ notice for these kinds of requests, and may not always be able to accommodate them. These requests should be directed to Kelley Moten (motenk2@northlandlibrary.org; 412-366-8100 x146).
Requirements for Volunteering
Volunteer Clearance Policy
Volunteer Policy/Procedure
In order to volunteer at Northland Public Library (except for the bi-annual book sale), anyone who is 18 years of age or older must either have or be willing to obtain the following clearances:
- (Free) Child Abuse History Clearance
- (Free) PA Criminal Record Check
If you have lived in Pennsylvania consistently for at least the past 10 years, you do not have to do the Federal Criminal Background Check. Instead, you will be asked to sign a form stating you have lived in PA for the past 10 years and haven’t committed any offenses that would prohibit you from serving as a volunteer.
The Director of Library Services will help you obtain these clearances if you are selected as a volunteer. Please contact Kelley Moten, Director of Library Services at motenk2@northlandlibrary.org or at 412-366-8100 ext.146 if you have any questions.
