Northland Public Library, in partnership with the Northland Public Library Foundation, has established the Willa Neil Librarian Scholarship in special recognition of Children’s Librarian Willa Neil, one of Northland Public Library’s three original employees, who retired in September 2023 after 55 years of continuous service to the Library.
One of Willa’s passions and legacies at Northland over the years was inspiring and encouraging Northland staff members to pursue their Master’s Degrees in Library and Information Science (MLIS). To honor and continue that legacy, the Willa Neil Librarian Scholarship Fund benefits Northland employees who are enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science program.
Northland staff member Jayme was the inaugural recipient of the Willa Neil Librarian Scholarship in August 2024, and Willa Neil was able to attend the award presentation in person.
