At Northland, we lend more than just books!
Here are a few items we have for you to take home that are not books, but equally fun and educational!
Adopt-A-Cow Kit
We adopted a cow! Our Daisy Adopt-a-Cow kit includes information and activity sheets, as well as a plush version of our cow, Daisy.
- The Adopt-a-Cow kit is non-holdable.
- The Adopt-A-Cow kit must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
- The Adopt-A-Cow kit checks out for three weeks.
American Girl Doll Lending Collection – Patrons must be 7 years old to check out
All dolls come with an outfit, pajamas, a book introducing the American Girl, and a carrying case.
- Dolls are non-holdable and check out for one week.
- Dolls must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
- A family may have only one doll checked out at a time. Upon returning a doll, we ask that patrons wait until their next visit before checking out another doll.
Bitty Babies – For Children ages of 3 to 6
Each baby comes with an outfit, pajamas, a small plushie, a board book, a baby blanket, and a carrying case.
- Bitty Babies are non-holdable and check out for one week.
- Bitty Babies must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
- A family may have only one doll checked out at a time. Upon returning a doll, we ask that patrons wait until their next visit before checking out another doll.
Board Games – For ages 2 and up 
Our board game collection includes board games and card games that start from ages 2 and up.
Launchpads
Tablets preloaded with fun and educational games, videos, and more!
- Launchpads must be checked out at the Children and Teen Services Reference or at the Checkout Desk.
Nature Explorer Backpacks
Each backpack includes fact books, maps, and more to help guide your next outdoor adventure!
Preschool Grab Bags
Each bag includes books, games, toys, and tip sheets for parents.
RPG Box Sets
New to tabletop Role Playing Games? Check out a starter set and join in the fun! RPG sets are located in the Teen room.
Robotic Companion Pets – Patrons must be 7 years old to check out
Each pet comes with a collar, a pet carrier, and a removable mat inside the pet carrier.
- Pets are non-holdable, are checked out for one week.
- Pets must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
- Upon returning a pet, we ask that patrons wait until their next visit before checking out another one.
Snap Circuit Jr. – For ages 7 and up
- Snap Circuits are non-holdable, check out for one week.
- Snap Circuits must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
Take-Home Science in a Box – For ages 5 and up
Each kit provides instructions and specific materials needed to recreate an experiment at home. Some kits require you to provide some of the materials, but they are general supplies you’ll have at home. We have over 60 experiments to choose from! All of the experiments have been tested by staff for safety and accuracy.
- Science Kits are non-holdable and check out for one week.
- Science Kits must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teens Services Reference Desk.
- Families may have one experiment checked out per child.
- There is a $10 replacement fee for science kits not returned.

Ukulele – For children ages 7 and up
Each ukulele comes with an instrument case, a tuner, 2 picks, and sheet music.
- Ukuleles are non-holdable and check out for 3 weeks.
- Ukuleles must be checked out and returned to the Children and Teen Services Reference Desk.
Video Games
Our video game collection offers games for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation, and X-Box. All games are rated G, E, or T.
- All children and teen video games must be checked out at the Children and Teen Services Reference Desk.
WahZoodles!
Preloaded speakers with stories, games, and more to help with active listening and screen-free fun! WahZoodles!
- WahZoodles! Must be checked out at the Children and Teen Services Reference or at the Checkout Desk.
Yoga Kits
Each kit includes instructional DVDs and books, yoga blocks, a bubble timer, and more! Northland’s Yoga Kits were made possible by a grant from the Network of the National Library of Medicine.
