Northland Public Library Authority, a unit of local municipal government under the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Act, is accepting applications from attorneys licensed to practice in Pennsylvania to serve as the Authority Solicitor commencing February, 2018.
The successful candidate will attend the monthly board meetings at the Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road, Town of McCandless and provide additional legal advice and counsel to the board and library administration as needed. Must have experience and familiarity with the Municipal Authorities Act. Northland Public Library is owned and operated by the Northland Public Library Authority (NPLA), a municipal authority chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The NPLA and the library are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of seven unpaid members, who are appointed to five-year terms by the elected officials of the five supporting municipalities. The board is the policy-making body of the institution.
Northland Public Library is unique because it is both a municipal authority and a non-profit organization with a Foundation.
Northland Public Library Authority (NPLA)
The Library functions under the municipal authority code and has a seven member board (excluding solicitor) comprised of appointees from the five municipalities who support the Library with tax dollars.
