SHELVER (Part-time)
Northland Public Library, whose mission is to enable, empower and encourage lifelong learning and discovery in a safe, welcoming space for all, is seeking an hourly Shelver.
We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team in a part-time role. We enthusiastically welcome student applicants! If you’re 16 or older and looking for a great part-time opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Responsibilities include shelving materials, pulling requested items for patrons, and shelf reading to ensure materials are in proper order.
Schedule & Hours:
This is a 12-hour per week hourly position year-round, with a consistent weekly schedule after training. The regular hours will include Saturdays, Sunday afternoons, and one evening per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting rate: $9.00/hour (increases to $10.00/hour after 90 days)
- Includes paid medical leave
- Retirement benefits available
Requirements:
Candidates must be able to work the specified schedule and demonstrate flexibility during the training period.
- Federal Criminal Background Check, PA Criminal Record Check, and PA Child Abuse History Clearance are required upon offer of employment.

Open since 1968, Northland Public Library is the second largest library in Allegheny County. The library aims to serve as the primary community connection for more than 90,000 residents of our five supporting municipalities—Bradford Woods, Franklin Park, Marshall, McCandless, and Ross.
