The Learning Garden at Northland is intended to provide an outdoor learning environment that will encourage hands on learning for all ages, and to enhance library staff’s ability to provide programs in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, and features specially designed sensory aspects for those dealing with sensory processing issues.
For safety, access is reserved for library programming, including independent garden Exploration and Discovery. Additionally, the space may be used for library special events and Northland Public Library Foundation fundraising events.
The Learning Garden storage shed is for items to be used for Learning Garden programming and maintenance.
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children in the Learning Garden during Exploration and Discovery time.
The main pavilion and many of the interactive features are designed to be accessible to all. Due to the topography, there are some areas that may not be accessible to everyone.
Exploring the outdoors comes with nature’s own risks. Please use caution around stinging/biting insects like bees, mosquitos and ticks and take precautions to prevent sunburn. Please protect yourself and your children from plants to which they may be allergic.
