We are committed to creating and maintaining an environment that fully utilizes the unique capabilities of each employee and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. It is the established policy of NPL to comply with both the letter and the spirit of all federal, state and local statutes affecting the employer-employee relationship and to extend equal employment and advancement opportunities to all qualified individuals, regardless of their race, color, age (40 and over), sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender identity or expression, family responsibilities, disability, genetic profile, religion, national origin, ethnic background, military service or citizenship and protected activity (i.e., opposition to prohibited discrimination or participation in the statutory complaint process).
This policy covers all NPL employees, contract and temporary personnel, vendors, suppliers and library patrons and applies to all employment situations and conditions of employment, including, but not limited to hiring, compensation, job postings and advertisements, promotions, transfers, layoffs and terminations, assignments, education and training, testing, benefits and welfare plans, retirements plans, leaves of absence, working conditions and facilities.
All personnel are reminded that each employee is at all times to be treated courteously by fellow employees, so that they are free from harassment or interference based on factors such as those mentioned above.
