COOKBOOK CLUB – Every first Monday of each month from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Rooms 148-2
Join other food enthusiasts at Northland’s cookbook club! Home cooks of any skill level are welcome as we explore dishes from various cookbooks. Each month will have a theme, and you can make a dish to bring and share with the club while we discuss the recipes and cooking process!

Next Chapter Book Clubs began in 2002 to provide meaningful opportunities for life-long learning, social connections, and community inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join Northland’s Next Chapter Book Club each month to read aloud and discuss stories. We’ll provide the books, and readers of any level are welcome!

NORTH HILLS GENEALOGISTS 
– Every third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. (Zoom, Christ Episcopal Church)

The North Hills Genealogists hold monthly meetings both in-person at Christ Episcopal Church (Babcock Blvd & Browns Lane, 5910 Babcock Blvd) and virtually via Zoom. These monthly meetings each feature a guest speaker addressing the group on a subject related to genealogy. A “roundtable discussion” is periodically scheduled instead of a lecture, giving each person a chance to ask questions or tell of a great find.

Take a peek into the sights and culture of other lands through a travel or foreign film feature. No registration is required.
September 17 – “You Will Be My Son” (France, 102 minutes)
Paul is enthusiastic about his grapes and his wine. He has no faith in his son. Paul’s estate manager has a son, Philippe, who knows his wines. When Philippe saves this year’s crop, Paul thinks of a way to make Philippe his natural heir, but would Paul really cut out his son?
October 15 – Discover London Part 2 (50 minutes)
We’ll be touring the London areas of Maidenhead, Clerkenwell and Smithfield. This area is known for its hotels, jewelry and fashion. We’ll visit a restaurant where you eat in the dark, Hatton Garden for jewelry and Savile Row for fashion. For fun, we’ll visit “The Elms of Smithfield” to learn about a few of London’s historical executions.
November 19 – “Penguin Lessons” (US/UK 111 minutes)
A true story about a disillusioned teacher in 1978 Argentina. Expecting an easy ride, he gets a class of unteachable children and learns that he’s there amid a political upheaval. When he rescues a penguin from an oil slick, he learns more about himself in order to help others. A very uplifting film. You’ll also fall in love with the penguin.
December 17 – Qatar / Lake Tahoe (50 minutes)
This month we travel both hot and cold. In Qatar we’ll see/tour some of the most ultramodern buildings in the world. We’ll learn about falconry, dune bashing, as well as go kayaking. In Lake Tahoe, we go on a skiing adventure, take a tour of the natural and manmade wonders of the lake and climb the world’s highest artificial rock-climbing wall at 164 ft.
CONVERSATION SALON – Every Fourth Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Room 148-2

Come meet some new friends and neighbors as we engage in informal chats on current events, local issues, or national headlines. Conversation salons provide us with the opportunity to share ideas, listen with respect to other’s opinions, and learn from each other.
