December 9 and 23

February 11 and 25
March 11 and 25
April 8 and 22

NORTH HILLS GENEALOGISTS – Every third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. (Zoom, Christ Episcopal Church)
December 15, January 20, February 17, March 17, April 21
The North Hills Genealogists hold monthly meetings both in-person at Christ Episcopal Church (Babcock Blvd & Browns Lane, 5910 Babcock Blvd) and virtually via Zoom. These monthly meetings each feature a guest speaker addressing the group on a subject related to genealogy. A “roundtable discussion” is periodically scheduled instead of a lecture, giving each person a chance to ask questions or tell of a great find.

To register, go to northhillsgenealogists.org and click on Meetings & Events.

MOVIE MATINEE – Every third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in Rooms 148-2
Take a peek into the sights and culture of other lands through a travel or foreign film feature. No registration is required.

December 17 – Qatar / Lake Tahoe (50 minutes)
This month we travel both hot and cold. In Qatar we’ll see/tour some of the most ultramodern buildings in the world. We’ll learn about falconry, dune bashing, as well as go kayaking. In Lake Tahoe, we go on a skiing adventure, take a tour of the natural and manmade wonders of the lake and climb the world’s highest artificial rock-climbing wall at 164 ft.

January 21 – “Promised Land” (127 minutes)
The Promised Land is a thrilling, pleasingly nasty epic as well as a lush ravishing Danish Western.  Kahlen wants to establish a farming colony on land that was deemed inarable, however the king enjoys the moorland. Based upon a true story. Mads Mikkelsen and cast do an excellent acting job  The photography is excellent.

February 18 – Mexico (70 minutes)
This month we travel to Mexico visiting Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, the Yucatan to see Aztec pyramids, finally deep into the rain forest to visit bat caves and cenotes.

March 18 – “The Duke” (95 minutes)
This month’s film is a charming, understated and completely enjoyable frolic about how an ordinary person can do extraordinary things no matter how impossible.  The movie also happens to be true. Only once has the National Gallery in London been robbed. It wasn’t until 50 years later that the full story emerged. The truth was that the thief was a good man, who wanted to change the law and help his marriage. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren do an excellent acting job in this enjoyable romp.

CONVERSATION SALON – Every Fourth Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Room 148-2
November 26, NOT Meeting in December
Come meet some new friends and neighbors as we engage in informal chats on current events, local issues, or national headlines. Conversation salons provide us with the opportunity to share ideas, listen with respect to other’s opinions, and learn from each other.

No registration is required. Email akenheadl3@northlandlibrary.org to join the email list.
