Become a Northland Public Library volunteer today! Following completion of our online volunteer application and subsequent interview, we’ll pair your interests and availability with our needs. See below clearance requirements for volunteering at Northland.
Join us to share your skills or learn something new by choosing solitude in the book shelves, helping kids or being part of a team with set-up or sale days in the bi-annual book sales. We offer variety, fun and commitment to the enrichment of a community treasure.

Clearance Requirements for Volunteering
In order to volunteer at Northland Public Library (except for the bi-annual book sale), anyone who is 18 years of age or older must either have or be willing to obtain the following clearances:
- (Free) Child Abuse History Clearance: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
- (Free) PA Criminal Record Check: https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
If you have lived in Pennsylvania consistently for at least the past 10 years, you do not have to do the Federal Criminal Background Check. Instead, you will be asked to sign a form stating you have lived in PA for the past 10 years and haven’t committed any offenses that would prohibit you from serving as a volunteer.

The Director of Library Services will help you obtain these clearances if you are selected as a volunteer. Please contact Kelley Moten, Director of Library Services at [email protected] or at 412-366-8100 ext.146 if you have any questions.
