Build a Better World Teen Summer Reading – Register
(Sixth Through Twelfth Grade)
Northland Public Library is looking for a 2017/18 High School or Home-Schooled Junior or Senior who resides in the Borough of Bradford Woods, Franklin Park Borough, Marshall Township, Town of McCandless or Ross Township to serve as a Northland Public Library Junior Board Member for a one-year term.
This person will:
-give suggestions and input;
-support the Library’s efforts to best serve the community;
-learn how a nonprofit organization is governed;
-enhance leadership abilities.
Any interested students who will be Juniors or Seniors in the 2017-2018 academic year are welcome to apply. Please fill out the application and e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 30, 2017.
Pride Month Open House for Teens
Friday, June 23 from 7-9 p.m.
Celebrate Pride Month with an After Hours Open House event for Teens. Think libraries are still musty books and shushing librarians? Think again! See what Northland Public Library has to offer. From 7-9 p.m. you are welcome to explore our diverse collection, try out different activities, play both video and board games, solve our escape room games, ‘minute to win it’ games and we will end the evening with a raffle for a fun prize.
Open to all students in rising ninth to twelfth grades. Registration is required.
MAKER MONDAYS DURING THE SUMMER
Meets weekly beginning June 5 to August 7 (except for June 26) from 3-4 p.m.
Each week teens and tween from rising sixth grade to rising twelfth grade are invited to explore their creative side through maker materials. You can do a different project each week or work on one big one for the summer. Come as often as you want. No registration required and all materials will be provided.

TEEN THURSDAYS DURING THE SUMMER
Each Thursday at 3 p.m
Will continue to meet June 22- August 3 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. (It will last longer when we watch a movie.) Each week will be something different. No registration required. Open to all in rising sixth to twelfth grades.

TEEN TECH AFTERNOONS DURING THE SUMMER
Wednesday, July 5 & Wednesday, August 2
3 to 4 p.m.
We will use the library’s computer lab to explore beginning coding through Scratch and other easy coding programs in the Library’s Board Room. Registration is required.

Summer Reading Club participants are required to have their own library card to attend programs. You many register online, in person at the children’s/young adult reference desk or you may call 412-366-8100 extension 123. Program age restrictions will be enforced.
Build A Better World Teen Summer Reading Rules:
Open to all rising sixth to twelfth grades or ages 12 to 18
- Must register online
- Can either keep track online or by paper log
- For every 5 books read, teen will earn a raffle slip for grand prize drawing
- Books over 400 pages can count as 2 books
- No limit on number of entries
- Grand prize drawing will be 5-$100 target gift cards
- Weekly prize drawing through passive programs for smaller gift cards
- Will receive free book upon registration or other prize if available
