Registration is required for Summer Reading Club programs as noted. Summer Reading Club participants are required to have their own library card to attend programs. You many register online, in person at the children’s/young adult reference desk or you may call 412-366-8100 extension 123. Program age restrictions will be enforced.
Hot Dog Day
August 7 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
50 cent hot dogs! Face painting, temporary tattoos, crafts, treats, raffles and more!
There will be a meet and greet with THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE™, courtesy of WQED, during Hot Dog Day. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the special day! Registration is closed. This event is full.
Please note: The meet and greet event will be weather-permitting, and no make-up date will be scheduled. Due to expected high attendance and time constraints, only one photograph per family will be permitted. Additional parking will be available at St. John’s Church (311 Cumberland Road) across the street from the Library and at North Allegheny Intermediate High School’s parking lot located down the street from the Library (350 Cumberland Road).
MOVIE – The Tale of Desperaux
Tuesday, August 11 at 1 p.m.
No registration is required. Children in third through sixth grade are invited to watch the movie at the Library. After the movie, children and parents will be given information about submitting their own work (drawing, poem, short story, video, etc.) for the Kate DiCamillo – “Our Stories, Our Community” project that will run between May and October of 2015. The top five students with winning projects will receive awards and the chance to meet Kate DiCamillo in a private meet and greet on Thursday, October 15, 2015. Super Reader Summer Reading Club may be over, but the superhero fun goes on! Drop by the Children’s department to meet the caped crusader and join in Bat games, Bat crafts, and more Bat fun! No registration is required.
