Shelver – Part Time
Northland Public Library, is seeking a Shelver. All applicants must be able to read shelves to maintain sequential order of library collection and reshelve library materials in appropriate locations.
This is a part-time, minimum wage position (13 hours/week) with a starting rate of $7.75. Applicants must be at least 16 years old at time of application.
Must be able to work rotating shifts (7 days/week) including morning, afternoon, evening and holiday hours when the library is open.
Physical demands: The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Children’s Librarian – Three-quarter Time
We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and playful applicant for a Children & Teen Services librarian position. The successful candidate will bring a commitment to fostering literacy in young children, an ability to respectfully engage children and families of all abilities and backgrounds, and a willingness to embrace the happy chaos of service to children & teens.
The candidate we hire will be planning and presenting programs for babies through teens both in-house and as part of our outreach team. Duties include reference desk work, reader’s advisory, collection development, and storytelling. An MLIS degree and a thorough knowledge of children’s literature are required for this position. Experience working in a preschool or elementary school setting is a plus. Ability to work comfortably with a diverse patron base is a necessity. Candidate must be comfortable working independently as well as functioning as part of a team.
This is a ¾ time non-exempt position (26.25 hours per week) with vacation and sick leave benefits. Annual salary starts at $25,266. Candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes daytime, evening and weekend hours. Federal Criminal background Check, PA Criminal Record Check and PA Child Abuse History Clearance required upon offer of employment.
