Get Involved: Volunteer

"Service is the rent each of us pays for living - the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time or after you have reached your personal goals."  Marian Wright Edelman

Each year hundreds of volunteers contribute their time, talents and energy by assisting library staff and extending community outreach for the library. The process is simple! Complete an online volunteer application form, and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview. We'll match your schedule and interests to our needs, and provide training prior to your volunteer assignment.

Whether you can help weekly, monthly, or just several times a year, opportunities are available to suit your schedule. For more information call (412) 366-8100 x104 or email our Volunteer Coordinator Kellie Kaminski at kaminskik@einetwork.net.

NPL Advocates

The Northland Public Library Advocates is a voluntary association whose purpose is to advance, strengthen and promote the mission of the Northland Public Library. The Advocates do not fundraise.

Your gift of time will:
• Raise community awareness about Northland’s classes, programs and services.
• Communicate with elected local, state or federal elected officials to promote library funding and support.
• Promote library resources to families in their neighborhood.
• Work in cooperation with Northland staff, Board and Foundation to develop a consistent message.
• Act as Northland’s eyes and ears in the community.
• Speak for Northland at community events or to community organizations.

Advocates will receive regular updates about Northland programs, services and issues affecting Northland. Library staff and Board members will be available to assist.

Northland is supported by the municipalities of Bradfordwoods, Franklin Park, McCandless, Marshall and Ross
