Northland Library is unique because it is both a municipal authority and a non-profit organization. The library functions under the municipal authority code and has a seven member board comprised of appointees from the five municipalities who support the library with tax dollars.

The supporting municipalities are: Bradford Woods Borough, Franklin Park Borough, Marshall Township, Town of McCandless and Ross Township.
